In practice that means a Vibe key is cut and programmed like a Corolla or Matrix: a Toyota-style transponder key on the earlier cars, and on the 2009–2010 models a Toyota-style remote (the same GQ4-29T family shared with the Corolla, Matrix and Venza) — not GM’s PassKey system.

It catches people out. An owner takes a Vibe to a shop expecting a GM key, and the shop finds it needs Toyota transponder chips and Toyota programming instead. We handle both systems, so it makes no difference to us — but it is worth knowing so you are not quoted for the wrong part.
