The RM of St. Andrews starts about 8 km north of the Winnipeg city limit by road and covers the west bank of the Red River up to Winnipeg Beach: farms, residential areas, seasonal cottages around the creeks and waterways, neighbourhood businesses and an industrial area around the airport. It takes in South St. Andrews, the west bank of Lockport, Mapleton, Clandeboye, Petersfield, Netley and Matlock.
Highway 9 is the main artery. Past the Perimeter it meets Parkdale Road (Highway 27) and River Road (PR 238) at one junction, then St. Andrews Road (PR 410), Highway 44 for Lockport and Fort Garry Road (Highway 67) toward Stonewall, and passes Lower Fort Garry at Little Britain on its way to Selkirk. Highway 8 also runs north through the RM, and the airport’s northern access, PR 230, links to it by a short road.
River Road (PR 238) runs 10.1 km along the west bank from the Highway 9 junction to Highway 44 at the dam, past St. Andrew’s-on-the-Red Anglican Church at 3 St. Andrews Road — built 1845–49, the oldest surviving stone church in western Canada — the St. Andrews Heritage Centre at 374 River Road and the sites of River Road Provincial Park.
St. Andrews Airport is a general-aviation field with flight training, charters and air ambulances and an industrial area around it. Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site, on Highway 9, runs as a living museum from May to September. Closer to home, St. Andrews Road has St. Andrews School (K–5) at number 8 and the St. Andrews Community Club at 28A.
