I carry the key blanks, the cutting machine and the programming equipment in the van, and come to your driveway, your workplace parking lot, a shopping-centre stall or the roadside. You wait beside your own vehicle instead of arranging a tow and a dealership appointment.

I cut the new key, program it to your car on the spot and test it before I leave. A spare car key copied from one that still works starts from $160, and a second one at the same visit is half price. If every key is gone, lost car key replacement starts from $200. Both prices are all-in, taxes included.

Mobile key fob replacement & programming

- Do you really come to my location in Winnipeg?
- Yes. Gaucho Keys is a fully mobile auto locksmith — I come to your home, workplace, a parking lot or the roadside anywhere in Winnipeg and the surrounding area, and do the work on-site. There is no shop to visit and no need to tow the car.
- What areas do you cover?
- All of Winnipeg and the towns around it, including Selkirk, Lockport, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, Headingley, Stony Mountain, Stonewall, Oakbank and Niverville. Inside Winnipeg there is no travel fee. For towns outside the city I charge $2 per km from the Winnipeg city limit to your town, and it is part of the all-in price I give you before I set out, so there are no surprises when I arrive. If you are not sure whether I reach you, just call or text and ask.
- Can everything be done on-site, or do you take the car away?
- Almost everything is done right beside your car. I cut and program keys, program fobs and transponder (chip) keys, and open locked cars on the spot for most makes and models, older cars included. The car stays with you the whole time.
- What if I'm stuck on the roadside?
- That is exactly what a mobile locksmith is for. Tell me your location and your vehicle's year, make and model, and I come to you where the car is — no tow truck needed. I work 7 days a week, 8 AM to 9 PM.
- Is a mobile locksmith more expensive than a shop?
- Usually it is the opposite. Because I come to you there is no tow to pay for, no dealership mark-up and no multi-day wait, and there is no call-out fee. You get the price up front and pay only once the key works.
- What do I need to have ready?
- Your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. I check these before any work as a standard part of the job — to confirm the car is yours and keep everything above board.
