Mobile auto locksmith in Lockport

In Lockport the car may be parked below the dam for a day’s fishing as easily as in a driveway. A lost key, a fob that has quit or a door locked with the keys inside is handled where the vehicle stands, on either bank, with the drive out from the city counted into one up-front price.

Lockport sits about 19 km north of the Winnipeg city limit by road, where Highway 44 crosses the Red River on the bridge over the St. Andrews Lock and Dam; the west bank belongs to the RM of St. Andrews and the east bank to the RM of St. Clements. Highway 9 passes a kilometre to the west and meets Highway 44 there, River Road (PR 238) comes up the west bank and ends at Highway 44 by the dam, and on the east bank PR 204, Henderson Highway, runs together with Highway 44 for a stretch before carrying on north toward East Selkirk.

The dam, opened in 1910, is a National Historic Site and still fully operational, and the water below it is a popular angling stretch — walleye, sauger and catfish. In winter the Lockport Ice Fishing Village has its own parking bays for access to the ice, and on the east shore is Lockport Provincial Park with the Gift of the Red interpretive trail.

The food stops have lots of their own: Skinner’s original stand on River Road at the dam, a second Skinner’s on Highway 44 west of the dam, and across the river the Half Moon Drive In at 6860 Henderson Highway. A lockout in any of those lots is dealt with right there.

I cover Lockport, north of Winnipeg on the Red River. It is outside the city, so the travel fee is $2 per km from the Winnipeg city limit to Lockport — part of the one exact, all-in total you hear before I set out, and that is the total when I pull up.

What I do on-site

  • On-site on both banks — by the St. Andrews Lock and Dam, in the lots at Skinner’s or the Half Moon, at Lockport Provincial Park, or in a driveway off River Road or Henderson Highway. No towing across the bridge to a shop.
  • Spare keys, lost keys, lockouts, fobs and chip keys — done at the vehicle, whether it is a pickup left by the river for the day or a car in the driveway. Most makes and models, older cars included.
  • Up-front price, no call-out fee — car lockout from $150, spare, chip key or fob from $160, smart / push-to-start from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. Lockport is outside Winnipeg, so a travel fee is built into that number and you hear the total before I leave. You pay only once the key works or the car is open.
  • Half price on a second key — same car, cut at the same visit, with a 1-year warranty on the work. Worth doing before a day on the river, when a single key in a jacket pocket is the only thing that gets you home.
  • Open 8 AM to 9 PM, 7 days — holidays included, so a Sunday at the dam in July and a weekday evening on Henderson Highway both work. Call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to Lockport?
Yes, on both sides of the river. Gaucho Keys is fully mobile and works where the car is: the west bank around River Road and Highway 44, the east bank along Henderson Highway, the lots by the St. Andrews Lock and Dam, or Lockport Provincial Park. No tow is needed. Lockport is outside Winnipeg, so a travel fee is included, and you hear the exact, all-in total before I set out. Tell me the year, make and model, and once you have the price we agree a day and time that work for you.
When can you reach Lockport?
I work 8 AM to 9 PM every day, holidays included. Lockport is north of Winnipeg on the Red River, so my timing depends on the drive and on the jobs already booked that day, and the distance is covered by a travel fee inside the single price I give before leaving. Call or message +1 (204) 406-1801 and you get an honest answer about when I can come.
Can you come to the dam or the riverbank if I am out fishing?
Yes. The lots by the St. Andrews Lock and Dam, Lockport Provincial Park on the east shore and the parking around the Highway 44 bridge are all places where I work at the car. People come for walleye, sauger and catfish, and in winter the ice fishing village has its own parking bays, so tell me which bank you are on and which lot or bay the car is in — “by the dam” covers both ends of a 270-metre structure. A WhatsApp photo of the key helps.
What can you do on-site in Lockport?
At the car, on either bank: spare keys cut and programmed, a new key made when all of them are lost, locked doors opened without damage, fobs and chip keys programmed. Most makes and models, older cars included.
How much does it cost in Lockport?
At the dam or anywhere else in Lockport, a lockout starts at $150, a spare, chip key or fob at $160, a smart / push-to-start key at $170 and a from-scratch key when all are lost at $200, all with taxes included. The travel fee is $2 per km from the Winnipeg city limit to Lockport; it is part of the all-in price I give you before I set out, and you pay only once the key works or the car is open. Some makes cost more; the pricing page has every line.
