Cadillac keys we make on-site
Cadillac is General Motors’ luxury flagship brand, and the keys we make for it are mostly proximity smart fobs with keyless access and push-button start — the Escalade, XT4, XT5, XT6, CT4, CT5, CT6, ATS, CTS and XTS — alongside transponder and flip keys on the older SRX, DTS, STS and DeVille. Gaucho Keys is a mobile auto locksmith, so instead of booking a dealer and arranging a tow you call us and we come to the car — at home, at work or wherever it is parked in Winnipeg and the surrounding area — and cut and program the key on-site, with the all-in price set before any work begins.
- Lost all keys — a brand-new Cadillac key generated, cut and programmed from scratch, even with none left.
- Spare / duplicate keys — a second key or fob made while your original still works.
- Key fob & remote programming — smart fobs, flip keys and remote-start fobs matched to your car.
- Transponder (chip) keys — the chip read, cloned or programmed so the engine will start.
- Smart / push-to-start keys — proximity fobs for the Escalade, XT5, CT5 and more, programmed on-site.
- Car lockout — locked out with the fob inside? We open the car without damage.
We cover most Cadillac models from 2000 and newer — the Escalade and Escalade ESV, the XT4, XT5 and XT6 crossovers, the CT4, CT5 and CT6 sedans, and the earlier ATS, CTS, XTS, SRX, STS, DTS, DeVille and ELR. Cadillac shares much of its engineering with the rest of GM — the Escalade, for example, is built on the same full-size platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, so its security system and many key parts line up with them — but the fob styling, buttons and part numbers are Cadillac-specific, and we confirm the exact part from your year and VIN before coming out.
Cadillac drivers in Winnipeg call us most often to replace a lost smart fob, cut a spare before the only key goes missing, and program a proximity key for an Escalade, XT5 or CTS. Because almost every Cadillac from the last decade uses keyless access with push-button start, the large majority of the Cadillac keys we make are proximity smart fobs rather than plain cut keys.
Winnipeg winters are hard on fobs. Cracked cases, worn chips and dead fob batteries tend to surface on the first cold mornings, and a household running on a single working fob is one loss away from a bigger, costlier all-keys-lost job. Adding a spare while your original still works is the easier, cheaper route — and on a proximity-key Cadillac it is worth doing before winter rather than after.
How it works
- Call or request a quote. Give us your Cadillac's year and model.
- We confirm the details and give you the price up front — no surprises.
- We come to you and cut & program your Cadillac key on-site, right where the vehicle is parked.
What to bring
Before any key is cut or fob programmed, we check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID to confirm the Cadillac is yours or that you are acting for the owner. This ownership check is a standard, non-negotiable part of every job — it keeps the process secure and above board for everyone. If the car is registered to a spouse or a company, mention it when you call and we’ll let you know what to have ready.
From $200 for a lost Cadillac key · from $160 for a spare.
Fob and transponder pricing depends on your model — you always get it up front, and pay only once the key works. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Interac e-Transfer or cash.
1-year warranty · No call-out fee — you pay only for the result.
Where we serve
We come to your Cadillac across Winnipeg — River Heights, Tuxedo, Fort Garry, St. Vital, Charleswood, Bridgwater and the rest of the city — as well as the surrounding towns: Selkirk, Lockport, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, Headingley, Stony Mountain and Oakbank. Inside Winnipeg there is no trip fee; for towns outside the city a small travel fee applies and is always included in the all-in price we quote up front.
We are open 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week, evenings and weekends included. Call, text or send a WhatsApp photo of your fob or VIN and we’ll confirm the right Escalade, XT5 or CTS part and the price before we come out.
How we make a Cadillac key on-site
Every job runs the same way. We confirm the Cadillac is yours with your registration and matching photo ID, then identify the exact key from the year, model and VIN — a transponder or flip key on older cars, or a proximity smart fob on newer ones. For a lost key we read the lock or pull the code, cut a fresh blade and program the chip or fob to the car’s immobiliser so it will start; for a spare we add a key alongside the one you have. Everything is done from our mobile setup in your driveway or at the roadside, with no towing and no overnight wait.
Why Winnipeg Cadillac owners call a mobile locksmith
A dealer visit for a lost Cadillac fob usually means a tow, days without the car and dealer pricing. A mobile auto locksmith comes to the Cadillac instead, makes the key where it sits and normally costs less than the dealer for the same working key. There is no call-out fee and no trip fee in Winnipeg, the all-in price is agreed up front with taxes included, and under No Fix = No Pay you pay only once the fob programs and the engine starts.
Cadillac keys by year and model
Cadillac uses General Motors’ anti-theft systems, so the right key depends on your year and model. Through the 1990s many Cadillacs used PassKey or PassLock with a resistor or a plain, non-transponder key; from the late 1990s GM moved to PassKey III (PK3) transponder (chip) keys, so most Cadillacs from 2000 and newer need more than a plain cut blade to start. Through the 2000s Cadillac used transponder, remote-head and switchblade flip keys, then shifted to proximity smart keys with keyless access and push-button start.
Cadillac was one of the earlier GM brands to adopt keyless access: the CTS offered it from 2008, the second-generation SRX added push-button start from 2010, and the ATS and XTS brought push-to-start proximity keys from 2013. The full-size Escalade kept a bladed transponder key through 2014 and moved to a proximity smart fob with its fourth generation in 2015, and today’s XT4, XT5, XT6, CT4, CT5 and CT6 all use proximity smart keys. The table is a general guide — trim level changes things, so your VIN is the final word.
| Cadillac era | Typical key type | Example models |
|---|---|---|
| 1990s | PassKey / PassLock, resistor or non-transponder key | DeVille, Seville, Eldorado, Catera |
| Late 1990s–2000s | PassKey III (PK3) transponder chip key | DeVille, DTS, STS, SRX (first gen), CTS (first gen) |
| Mid-2000s–early 2010s | Transponder, remote-head or flip key | DTS, Escalade (through 2014) |
| 2008 onward | Proximity smart key, keyless access | CTS (second gen), STS |
| 2010 onward | Proximity smart key, push-to-start | SRX (second gen) |
| 2013 onward | Proximity smart key, push-to-start | ATS, XTS, CTS (third gen from 2014) |
| 2015 onward | Proximity smart key, push-to-start | Escalade (fourth gen) |
| 2016–2020 onward | Proximity smart key, push-to-start | CT6 (2016), XT5 (2017), XT4 (2019), XT6 & CT4 / CT5 (2020) |
On the Escalade, models through 2014 use a bladed transponder or flip key while the fourth generation from 2015 uses a proximity smart fob — and because it shares its platform with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, the same generation of key technology applies. The ATS, CTS, XTS, SRX and the XT and CT ranges are proximity smart keys with push-button start. Two Cadillacs of the same year can still take different keys by trim, so send a photo of your key or your VIN and we’ll confirm yours before we come out.
Common Cadillac key situations we handle
- Lost the only smart fob to an Escalade or XT5 — a new fob generated and programmed on-site.
- Need a spare before winter — a duplicate key or fob made while the original still works.
- Cracked or water-damaged fob — a replacement programmed to your Cadillac.
- Fob opens the doors but the car won’t start — often a worn transponder or fob fault we can pin down on-site.
- Bought a used Cadillac with one key — a second key so you’re never down to one.
What affects the price of a Cadillac key
Every Cadillac key job is quoted up front and all-in, taxes included, so the number on the phone is the number you pay. The key type your model uses is what changes the price: a spare transponder or flip key starts from $160, a smart / push-to-start proximity fob from $170, and an all-keys-lost job — a brand-new key made with no working key present — from $200. Opening a locked Cadillac with no key made is $150. A second key ordered at the same time is 50% off. Dealer-only fob and chip pricing depends on the model, so send the year and VIN for an exact figure. No call-out fee, no trip fee in Winnipeg, and you pay only once the key works.
Cadillac fobs, remotes and remote start
Most modern Cadillacs use a proximity smart fob with remote start built in, so a lost or damaged fob is the most common reason owners call. We supply and program replacement smart fobs, flip keys and remote-head keys for most Cadillac models from 2000 and newer, including remote-start functions where the car was factory-equipped. If the fob still unlocks the doors but the buttons have stopped, it is often a flat fob battery or a worn case rather than a programming fault — we tell you which on the spot and charge only for what is needed.
Buying a used Cadillac? Add a second key
Many used Cadillacs are sold in Winnipeg with just one key — often a single smart fob and no spare. That lone fob is one point of failure: lose or break it and the next step is a full all-keys-lost job, which costs more than adding a spare now. We can program a second proximity fob or transponder key for most Cadillac models from 2000 and newer, so a private-sale or dealer-lot Cadillac isn’t left riding on one key.
“I would highly recommend the service. Arrived at my house on time and completed the job in the time he stated it would be done. Very professional.”
