Toyota Corolla keys I make on-site
The Toyota Corolla is a Winnipeg favourite and a car I make keys for regularly. Corollas from 2003 on use a chip (transponder) key, and newer models often have a remote fob or smart / push-to-start key — I handle most of them on-site, so there is no need to tow the car to a dealer. For push-to-start keys on a 2020-or-newer Corolla, send me a photo of your fob and the VIN first — I tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site. A second key done at the same visit is half price.
- Lost all keys — a brand-new Toyota Corolla key cut and programmed from scratch.
- Spare / duplicate keys — a backup before you are stuck.
- Key fob & remote programming — fobs and remotes set up to your Toyota Corolla.
- Chip & push-to-start keys — cut and programmed on the spot, depending on your year and trim.

“Very pleased with the service from Gaucho keys, they were on time. Communication was excellent, they came right to my driveway and programmed my Toyota RAV4 key. I will definitely use their service again, highly recommend!!”

Toyota Corolla keys by year
Which Corolla key you need comes down to its generation. Corollas from the early-2000s ninth generation (E120) and the 2009–2013 tenth generation (E140) typically use a bladed transponder (chip) key that the factory immobilizer must read before the engine will start. The 2014–2019 eleventh generation (E170) commonly came with a bladed remote-head key, with a proximity Toyota Smart Key and push-button start offered on higher trims, and that smart key became more widespread on the 2020-and-newer twelfth generation (E210). Because trim and options change what a given car actually carries, I confirm the right key for your Corolla from your year and VIN before I drive out — and on a 2020-or-newer push-to-start Corolla, whether it is one I can do on-site.
Toyota Corolla key or fob not working? Common problems
Corolla trouble tends to track the generation — a bladed transponder key on older cars, a Toyota Smart Key on newer ones. Here is what I fix.
- Engine won’t start with the key in — The Toyota immobilizer isn’t reading the chip in the key. I program a correctly-coded transponder key so the car starts.
- Smart Key won’t start the car — On 2020-and-newer push-button Corollas, a weak fob battery or a fob that has lost sync stops detection — I replace the battery, and if the Smart Key itself needs re-programming, I check your VIN first and tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site.
- Worn blade that sticks — A rounded remote-head blade won’t turn smoothly — I cut a fresh key to your locks.
- Lost every Corolla key — No key at all? For most years I build and program a new one on-site, no dealer tow; on a 2020-or-newer push-to-start Corolla, send me the VIN first and I tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site.
Not sure which one it is? Send a photo of your Toyota Corolla key on WhatsApp and I’ll tell you what you need. You pay only once it works.
Frequently asked questions
- How much is a Toyota Corolla key in Winnipeg?
- On a 2003–2013 Corolla a chip key starts from $160, and so does a 2014–2019 remote-head key or a fob or remote programmed on its own. A Toyota Smart Key for a push-button Corolla starts from $170, and all keys lost from $200, taxes included. On a 2020-or-newer push-to-start Corolla, send me the year and the VIN first. A second key at the same visit is half price, and you pay only once the key works.
- Does my Corolla have a chip key, a remote-head key or a smart key?
- It goes by generation and trim. Corollas from 2003 to 2013 (E120 and E140) typically use a bladed chip key; the 2014–2019 E170 commonly came with a remote-head key, with a Toyota Smart Key and push-button start on higher trims; and on the 2020-and-newer E210 the smart key is more widespread. If you start it with a button, it is a smart key. A photo of your key and the VIN settle it.
- Can you make a Toyota Corolla key if I have lost all of them?
- For most years from 2003 on, when the E120 brought the immobilizer, yes. Even with no working key, I can generate and program a brand-new Toyota Corolla key from scratch on-site. On a 2020-or-newer push-to-start Corolla, send me the VIN first — I tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site.
- Do you program Toyota Corolla key fobs and smart keys?
- Yes. I program Toyota Corolla remotes, fobs, transponder (chip) keys and smart / push-to-start keys on-site, depending on your year and trim. On a 2020-or-newer push-to-start Corolla, send me a photo of your fob and the VIN first — I tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site.
- Which Toyota Corolla years do you cover?
- Most Toyota Corolla vehicles from 2003 on, when the E120 brought the immobilizer; for older Corollas I cut a plain metal key. Send me your exact year and I confirm what your Toyota Corolla needs.
