Toyota Camry keys by year
Which Camry key you need depends on its generation. Camrys from the early-2000s XV30 and the 2007-2011 XV40 generations typically use a bladed transponder (chip) key that the factory immobilizer has to recognize before the engine will start, with a proximity Toyota Smart Key and push-button start offered on some higher trims. The 2012-2017 XV50 generation commonly came with a bladed transponder or remote-head key, while the smart key with push-to-start spread more widely across the 2018-and-newer XV70 Camry, especially on upper trims. Because trim and options change what a given car actually carries, I confirm the exact key for your Camry from its year & VIN before I drive out — and on a 2018-or-newer push-to-start Camry, whether it is one I can do on-site.

- Immobilizer no-start — The engine cranks but won’t catch because the Toyota immobilizer can’t read the chip. I program a chip key matched to your Camry.
- Push-to-start Camry won’t respond — A flat Smart Key battery or a de-paired fob stops a 2018-and-newer Camry starting — I replace the battery, and if the fob itself needs re-programming, I check your VIN first and tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site.
- Key worn or bent — A worn bladed key won’t turn cleanly; I cut a precise replacement.
