Oldsmobile Car Keys in Winnipeg

GM wound Oldsmobile down in 2004, but Aleros, Intrigues, Silhouettes and Bravadas still lose keys. They share GM locks and ignitions, and I carry the blanks and programming gear — routine work, on-site in Winnipeg.

Open 8 AM–9 PM, 7 days.
Send your year, make and model — and whether a key still works — and you get the price.
Text, WhatsApp or Messenger any time — +1 (204) 406-1801. I reply from 8 AM. Send your year, make and model.

General Motors wound Oldsmobile down in 2004, so there has not been an Oldsmobile dealer counter in Manitoba for two decades. The cars did not disappear with the badge: Aleros, Intrigues, Silhouettes and Bravadas are still parked on Winnipeg driveways, still driven daily, and still losing keys. What changes when a brand is gone is not the work — it is who will do it.

That is the part I can settle quickly. Oldsmobile shared its locks and ignitions with the rest of General Motors, so an Alero key is cut and coded the same way a Grand Am key is, and a Silhouette is a Venture underneath. I already carry the GM blanks and the programming gear for those platforms, which means an Oldsmobile is routine work rather than a special order.

I come to the car, cut the blade and set up whatever the vehicle needs, and you pay only once the key turns the ignition and starts the engine. No tow to a dealer that no longer exists, and no waiting on a part that has to be tracked down out of province.

Oldsmobile keys I make on-site

Whatever your Oldsmobile needs, I come to you and handle it where you are:

  • Lost all keys — a brand-new Oldsmobile key cut and coded from scratch, with nothing to copy.
  • Spare / duplicate keys — a backup made while you still have a working one.
  • Remote & keyless-entry fobs — lock/unlock remotes programmed to the car.
  • Transponder (chip) keys — cut and coded on-site where the model uses one.

I cover the Oldsmobiles still on the road here — Alero, Intrigue, Aurora, Bravada, Silhouette, Cutlass, Achieva and the Eighty-Eight and Ninety-Eight. Tell me the exact year and model and I’ll confirm the right key before I come out.

Oldsmobile owners in Winnipeg call me most often to replace a key that has gone missing after twenty years of the same one, to cut a spare before that happens, or to sort out a remote that has stopped locking the doors — all done at the car, in a single visit.

How it works

  • Message, texttext or call. Give me your Oldsmobile’s year, model and VIN.
  • I text you the all-in price before I drive out — that number does not change at your car — and we pick a time that suits you.
  • I come to you and cut & program your Oldsmobile key on-site, in a single visit.

Common Oldsmobile key jobs I handle in Winnipeg

Most Oldsmobile calls come down to a few familiar situations, and I cover them on-site:

  • Down to the last key. Twenty-year-old cars usually have one key left, and it is worn. I cut a fresh blade to the vehicle’s code rather than copying the worn one, so the new key is closer to the original than the key you have been using.
  • Lost every key. With nothing to copy, I read what the car needs and make a key from scratch on-site.
  • Key turns but the engine will not run. Some GM cars of this era use a security system that has to see the right key before it lets the engine fire. I sort that out at the car.
  • Worn key that no longer turns. A blade rounded off by two decades of use gets replaced, not duplicated.
  • Remote that stopped working. Keyless-entry remotes are programmed to the car where the model supports it.

Which Oldsmobile key you have

  • Through the 1990smany GM cars of the period used a resistor key — a small pellet set into the blade that the ignition reads. It looks like a plain key with a black chip in the middle.
  • Late 1990s into the 2000sGM moved to a system built into the lock cylinder rather than the key, so the key itself is a plain cut key with nothing electronic in it.
  • Later modelssome carry a transponder chip in the head that has to be coded to the car before the engine will start.

Two Oldsmobiles of the same year can differ, so treat this as a guide rather than a promise. Send me the year, model and VIN — or a photo of the key you still have — and I’ll tell you exactly which of the three yours takes before I set off.

What to have ready at your car

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It’s a standard part of how I work — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.

Still have a working key? A spare starts from $160. No working key left? An all-keys-lost job starts from $200.

You always get the exact number up front, and pay only once the key works. I accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Interac e-Transfer or cash.

The Oldsmobiles I see most in Winnipeg

The Alero is the one that turns up most — it was the last Oldsmobile built and the newest on the road, so proportionally more survive. The Intrigue and the Silhouette minivan come next, and the Bravada shows up as the GM SUV of choice for people who wanted a Blazer with better trim. Older Eighty-Eights and Ninety-Eights still appear, usually as low-kilometre second cars.

Where I come to you

All of Winnipeg and the surrounding region — including Selkirk, Lockport, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, Headingley, Stony Mountain, Stonewall, Oakbank and Niverville. Outside Winnipeg a travel fee is worked into the all-in price — you hear the final number before I set off. Open 8 AM–9 PM, 7 days a week. I come to wherever the car happens to be — a driveway, an office parkade, a grocery-store lot — and the whole job is done at the vehicle, so you never need to arrange a ride, a tow or a second trip.

There is no Oldsmobile dealer left — that is the point

With most makes, the choice is dealer or mobile locksmith. With Oldsmobile there is no dealer at all: the brand ended in 2004 and the franchise network went with it. A GM dealer may help you with a shared-platform part, but you are towing a twenty-year-old car to a counter that has no particular interest in it, and paying for the tow.

A mobile locksmith removes the whole problem. I come to the car, the price is agreed before I set off, taxes included, and you pay only once the key works. If I cannot get your Oldsmobile a working key, you owe nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Can you still make a key for an Oldsmobile?
Yes. Oldsmobile shared its locks and ignition systems with the rest of General Motors, so the blanks and the programming equipment are the same ones I already carry. The brand ending in 2004 does not make the key any harder to make.
What if I have lost every Oldsmobile key?
That is still a job I do on-site. With nothing to copy I work from the vehicle itself, cut a fresh blade to its code and set up whatever the car needs. An all-keys-lost job starts from $200, all-in with taxes.
How much is an Oldsmobile key in Winnipeg?
A spare starts from $160 whichever key your Oldsmobile takes — a 1990s resistor key, a plain cut key or a later transponder chip key — and a keyless-entry remote starts from $160 too. With no working key left, an all-keys-lost job starts from $200. You get the exact number before any work begins and pay only once the key works.
Which Oldsmobile models do you cover?
Alero, Intrigue, Aurora, Bravada, Silhouette, Cutlass, Achieva, Eighty-Eight and Ninety-Eight. Send me your year and model to confirm.
My key is worn out and barely turns. Can you copy it?
I would rather not copy a worn key — a copy of a bad key is a bad key. Where the car’s code is available I cut a fresh blade to the original specification instead, so the new key sits properly in the lock.
Do I need to bring the car anywhere?
No. I come to wherever it is parked — a driveway, a workplace lot, a parkade — and do the whole job at the vehicle.

What is included when I make your Oldsmobile key

My price is all-in with taxes included, so the figure I give you is the figure you pay. It covers the blank, cutting the blade, programming whatever the vehicle needs, testing it in front of you and the trip out to the car. There is no call-out fee and nothing is added afterwards.

I accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Interac e-Transfer or cash, and payment is due only once the key is finished and working. If I cannot hand you a working key, you owe nothing.

By key type

I also cover specific key types: transponder / chip keys, smart / push-to-start keys, and all keys lost.

Other makes I cover

I cut and program keys, fobs and transponder keys for these makes — older mechanical and resistor keys included: Ford · Lincoln · Chevrolet · GMC · Buick · Cadillac · Chrysler · Dodge · Jeep · Ram · Toyota · Lexus · Honda · Acura · Nissan · Infiniti · Mazda · Mitsubishi · Subaru · Suzuki · Hyundai · Kia · Genesis · Land Rover · Jaguar. I work on North American, Japanese and Korean vehicles, plus Jaguar and Land Rover — not German makes (VW, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Mini, Porsche) or Volvo. See every make and model I cover.
