Saturn closed in 2010, the same year as Pontiac and Hummer, so its newest cars are now around fifteen years old — young enough that plenty are still daily drivers around Winnipeg. The Vue and the Ion turn up most, with Auras and Outlooks close behind.
Saturn is a General Motors brand under the badge, and that is what makes the keys straightforward. An Aura is a GM mid-size sedan, an Outlook shares its bones with the Acadia, and a later Vue is GM through and through. The blanks, the cutting and the programming are all things I already do every week on Chevrolets and GMCs.
The one Saturn quirk worth knowing is the Ion: its ignition sits on the steering column rather than behind the wheel, which surprises people but does not change what I do. I come to the car, cut and code the key there, and you pay only once it starts the engine.
Saturn keys I make on-site
Whatever your Saturn needs, I come to you and handle it where you are:
- Lost all keys — a brand-new Saturn key or fob made from scratch, with nothing to copy.
- Spare / duplicate keys — made while you still have a working one, which is always the cheaper moment.
- Remote-head keys and fobs — lock, unlock and panic buttons programmed to the car.
- Transponder (chip) keys — cut and coded to the immobilizer on-site.
I cover the Saturns still on the road here — Vue, Ion, Aura, Outlook, Sky, Relay, Astra and the older S-Series. Tell me the exact year and model and I’ll confirm the right key before I come out.
Saturn owners in Winnipeg call me most often to replace a lost Vue key, to cut a spare for an Ion before the last one goes missing, or to sort out an Aura remote that has stopped working — all done at the car in a single visit.
Common Saturn key jobs I handle in Winnipeg
Most Saturn calls come down to a few familiar situations, and I cover them on-site:
- Lost the only key. With nothing to copy I work from the vehicle, cut a fresh blade and program the key or fob from scratch.
- Spare for a Vue or Ion. Inexpensive while a working key exists, and it saves the larger all-keys-lost bill later.
- Ion ignition on the column. The unusual location catches people out; it does not change the work, and I bring the right blank either way.
- Remote-head key with dead buttons. Where the buttons have failed rather than the battery, a replacement head is cut and programmed at the car.
- Extra key for a second driver. Programmed alongside the existing one in the same visit.
Which Saturn key you have
- Older S-Seriesusually a plain cut key, sometimes with a separate keyless-entry remote.
- Ion, Vue and the mid-2000s carsa transponder (chip) key that has to be coded to the car before the engine will start.
- Aura, Outlook and later Vuecommonly a remote-head key — blade and buttons in one housing, cut and programmed together.
Trim levels changed what a given year came with, so treat this as a guide, not a promise. Send me the year, model and VIN, or a photo of the key you still have, and I’ll confirm exactly what yours needs before I set off.
What to have ready at your car
Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It’s a standard part of how I work — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.
Still have a working key? A spare starts from $160. No working key left? An all-keys-lost job starts from $200.
You always get the exact number up front, and pay only once the key works. I accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Interac e-Transfer or cash.
1-year warranty on my work · No call-out fee — you pay only for the result.
The Saturns I see most in Winnipeg
The Vue is the Saturn I am called about most — it sold well here and it suits Manitoba weather. The Ion is next, usually a first car that has been kept running. Aura sedans and Outlook crossovers appear regularly, and the older S-Series still shows up with its dent-resistant plastic panels looking better than the metal around it.
Where I come to you
All of Winnipeg and the surrounding region — including Selkirk, Lockport, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, Headingley, Stony Mountain, Stonewall, Oakbank and Niverville. Outside Winnipeg a travel fee is worked into the all-in price — you hear the final number before I set off. Open 8 AM–9 PM, 7 days a week. I come to wherever the car happens to be — a driveway, an office parkade, a grocery-store lot — and the whole job is done at the vehicle, so you never need to arrange a ride, a tow or a second trip.
Saturn keys: there is no dealer, and that is fine
Saturn dealerships closed with the brand in 2010. A GM dealer can sometimes source a shared part, but you would be towing a fifteen-year-old car there and paying for the privilege before anyone looks at it.
Because Saturn is GM underneath, a mobile locksmith is the practical route: I already carry what these cars take. The price is agreed up front, taxes included, and if I cannot get your Saturn a working key you owe nothing.

Frequently asked questions
- Can you make a Saturn key even though the brand is gone?
- Yes. Saturn was a General Motors brand, so its keys, blanks and programming are the same family I work with on Chevrolet and GMC every week. The badge closing in 2010 does not change the job.
- Why is the ignition on the steering column of my Ion?
- That is normal for the Saturn Ion — the ignition switch sits on the column rather than in the dash. It surprises people who have not owned one, but it does not make the key any harder to cut or program.
- How much is a Saturn key in Winnipeg?
- A spare starts from $160 for any Saturn key — the plain cut key of an older S-Series, the transponder chip key of an Ion or Vue, or the remote-head key of an Aura, Outlook or later Vue. With no working key left, an all-keys-lost job starts from $200. You get the exact number before any work begins and pay only once the key works.
- Which Saturn models do you cover?
- Vue, Ion, Aura, Outlook, Sky, Relay, Astra and the older S-Series. Send me your year and model to confirm.
- Do you program the remote buttons as well as the key?
- Yes. Where the model uses a remote-head key or a separate fob, the buttons are programmed to the car in the same visit as the key.
- I have lost both Saturn keys. What happens now?
- I come to the car and make a key from scratch — no copy needed. All-keys-lost starts from $200, all-in with taxes, and you pay only once it starts the engine.
What is included when I make your Saturn key
My price is all-in with taxes included, so the figure I give you is the figure you pay. It covers the blank, cutting the blade, programming whatever the vehicle needs, testing it in front of you and the trip out to the car. There is no call-out fee and nothing is added afterwards.
I accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Interac e-Transfer or cash, and payment is due only once the key is finished and working. If I cannot hand you a working key, you owe nothing.
By key type
I also cover specific key types: transponder / chip keys, smart / push-to-start keys, and all keys lost.
Other makes I cover
I cut and program keys, fobs and transponder keys for these makes — older mechanical and resistor keys included: Ford · Lincoln · Chevrolet · GMC · Buick · Cadillac · Chrysler · Dodge · Jeep · Ram · Toyota · Lexus · Honda · Acura · Nissan · Infiniti · Mazda · Mitsubishi · Subaru · Suzuki · Hyundai · Kia · Genesis · Land Rover · Jaguar. I work on North American, Japanese and Korean vehicles, plus Jaguar and Land Rover — not German makes (VW, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Mini, Porsche) or Volvo. See every make and model I cover.
