Mazda CX-5 keys I make on-site

On a CX-5 that almost always means a push-to-start smart key. Nothing sticks out of it, but there is an auxiliary key tucked inside the fob for the day the battery quits. Mazda CX-5 keys by year
2013 to 2016 — the first generation. Mazda listed push-button start as standard equipment when the CX-5 launched for 2013, so even these early SUVs carry a keyless transmitter rather than a key you turn in a barrel. The option on the list back then was Advanced Keyless Entry, the proximity version with request switches on the door handles that unlocks as you walk up. Both versions use the same style of fob with an auxiliary key inside.
2017 to 2025 — the second generation. The redesigned CX-5 kept push-button start right across the range, from the entry trim up, with Advanced Keyless Entry and its walk-up unlocking added further along. Fobs from these years are smart keys that have to be programmed to your specific vehicle, so no counter that only cuts blades can copy one.
2026 and newer — the third generation. The all-new CX-5 arrived for the 2026 model year on a completely new platform, and the key and entry setup varies by trim. Newer platforms can need different tooling, so send me the year, the trim and a photo of your fob and I will tell you honestly whether yours is one I can do.

Mazda CX-5 key fob problems I fix
The CX-5 has had push-button start since it launched for 2013, so it uses a keyless fob with an emergency blade inside rather than a key you turn. Fob faults are the usual culprit.
- Push-to-start won’t detect the fob — The car is slow to recognize the fob or won’t start — usually a flat coin-cell battery. I replace it, or program a new fob if it has failed.
- Fob buttons or remote-start stopped working — When the transmitter itself fails, lock/unlock and start stop responding — I supply and program a fresh fob.
- Emergency blade won’t open the door — The hidden auxiliary blade lets you into a CX-5 with a dead fob; if it’s worn or lost I cut a new one to your locks.
- Lost all CX-5 fobs — I generate and program a brand-new keyless fob from scratch, on-site.
