Hyundai Santa Fe keys I make on-site
Since the 2001 model year the Santa Fe has used a bladed key, a flip key with the blade folding into the remote, and a proximity smart key with push-button start — and from 2013 on, the trim decides between the last two. I confirm yours from a photo or the VIN before I quote.
Prices are all-in with taxes: a flip or chip key from $160, a spare smart key from $170, and a brand-new key when every key is gone from $200. A second key at the same visit is half price, there is no call-out fee, and you pay only once the key works.
- Spare smart key — a second fob programmed to your Santa Fe, like the 2015 Santa Fe Sport in my video.
- Flip & chip keys — cut and programmed at the car.
- Key fob & remote programming — fobs and remotes set up to your Santa Fe.
- Lost all keys — a brand-new key from scratch on a 2018-or-older Santa Fe; on a 2019-or-newer one, send me the VIN first.

A new Hyundai smart key, made at the car

Cutting a fresh key on my own machine
Watch: a spare smart key for a 2015 Santa Fe Sport
The Santa Fe Sport is the shorter, two-row Santa Fe of the 2013–2018 generation, with the smart key on its higher trims. One fob still worked, so I programmed a second one to the SUV on the spot.

Hyundai Santa Fe keys by generation
Five generations of the Santa Fe have been sold here, and from the third one on, the trim decides the key as much as the year does. A guide, not a promise — your VIN is the final word.
| Years | Usual key | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| 2001–2006 (first generation) | Bladed key, with the lock buttons on a separate remote | I confirm the exact key from the VIN before I cut; a spare starts from $160. |
| 2007–2012 (second generation) | Transponder (chip) key, with a separate remote | The chip key is cut and programmed at the car, from $160. |
| 2013–2018 (Santa Fe Sport, and the three-row Santa Fe XL) | Flip key on lower trims; proximity smart key with push-button start on higher trims | On a 2015 Santa Fe Sport the smart key came with the 2.4 Luxury and 2.0T trims. Spare smart keys from $170. |
| 2019–2023 (fourth generation) | Flip key on the base trim; smart key with push-button start above it | In 2019 the Essential kept a flip key; the Preferred and up had a smart key. All keys lost: VIN first. |
| 2024 and newer (fifth generation) | Smart key on the Canadian trims | The newest platform — send me a photo of the fob and the VIN, and I confirm before I drive out. |
One Canada-specific point: under federal rule CMVSS 114, every new passenger vehicle sold here since September 1, 2007 has an engine immobilizer, so a Canadian Santa Fe expects a key with a coded chip. A key listed for a US-market Santa Fe can look identical and still be the wrong part.
Lost every key on a newer Santa Fe?
A spare is the easy case: one fob still works, and I program a second one, as in the video. When every key is gone on a 2019-or-newer Santa Fe, send me the year and the VIN first, and I tell you honestly, before I leave, whether I can do it on-site. Down to one key? A spare now, from $170, costs less than an all-keys-lost job later, from $200.
What to have ready at your car
Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID — a standard part of how I operate, to confirm the Santa Fe is yours.
From $170 for a spare Santa Fe smart key · from $160 for a flip or chip key · from $200 if every key is gone.

“Andy is a lifesaver. I had one broken fob and one lost fob, so needless to say my SUV wasn't going anywhere. I messaged Andy and he gave me an exact price and came to my residence the very next day. The mobile service is very much appreciated. It took about 30 minutes and he had two new fobs programmed and he ensured both worked with all functions. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars, the service was stellar and he is very personable and friendly.”

Santa Fe key or fob not working? What I check
A Santa Fe key problem is not always a new-key problem.
- Push-button start does not see the fob — a weak coin-cell battery is the first suspect; if a fresh one does not help, I program a replacement fob.
- Flip key broken or will not fold — the folding blade and its hinge wear out; I cut and program a new flip key.
- Lock and unlock buttons dead — often the battery, sometimes a failed remote; a new fob is programmed at the car.
Not sure which one it is? Send a photo of your Hyundai Santa Fe key on WhatsApp and I’ll tell you what you need. You pay only once it works.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you make a spare smart key for my Hyundai Santa Fe?
- Yes — a spare smart key starts from $170, and a second key made at the same visit is half price. The video on this page is a spare smart key I programmed for a 2015 Santa Fe Sport. Tell me the year and send a photo of your fob, and I confirm the exact part before I come out.
- How much is a Hyundai Santa Fe key in Winnipeg?
- A flip key or chip key for a Santa Fe starts from $160, a smart key from $170, and all keys lost from $200, taxes included. A second key at the same visit is half price. You get the exact all-in price before I come out — outside Winnipeg that includes a travel fee — there is no call-out fee, and you pay only once the key works.
- Does my Santa Fe have a flip key or a smart key?
- If it starts with a button, it has a smart key; if you turn a key, it has a flip or bladed key. From 2013 on, both were sold in the same model year depending on the trim. A photo of your key or the VIN settles it.
- Can you make a Santa Fe key if I have lost all of them?
- Yes, from $200. On a 2018-or-older Santa Fe I make a brand-new key from scratch, on-site. On a 2019-or-newer Santa Fe, send me the VIN first — I tell you before I drive out whether I can do it on-site. Either way, have your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID ready.
- Can I buy a Santa Fe key online and have you program it?
- Sometimes, but send me a photo of the listing first. A Canadian Santa Fe needs a key with the right chip, and a fob that looks the same can be made for another year or for the US market. If the part matches, I cut and program it to your Santa Fe.
