Mobile auto locksmith in St. James
Stuck in the airport parkade on Wellington Avenue, at CF Polo Park or at home on a Silver Heights crescent? The new key, the fob or the lockout is handled right beside the car, and the price is given before anything is cut.
St. James is the older part of west Winnipeg between the Assiniboine River and the airport, and Portage Avenue runs the length of it. Coming out from the city you cross St. James Street by Polo Park, then pass St. James Collegiate at 1900 Portage, Bruce Park and Deer Lodge Centre, and reach Silver Heights around Mount Royal Road, while Ness Avenue carries the same traffic a few blocks north.
Behind those two streets it is postwar housing — bungalows from the late 1940s and 50s, bi-levels and side-splits from the 60s and 70s — and in Silver Heights the streets curve into loops and crescents instead of running on a grid.
In St. James the car is usually in one of three kinds of spot. One is a shopping lot — the surface parking and the parkade at CF Polo Park, or the lot fronting Portage at Foodfare in the old Silver Heights centre at Mount Royal Road — where a fob that has been getting weak for weeks finally stops opening the doors.
Another is the airport on Wellington Avenue, where people come off a flight, walk out to the parkade or the Economy lot, and find the key gone or shut inside the car. The third is home: a driveway on one of the Silver Heights crescents, or a time-limited stall on the streets around Deer Lodge Centre, where the posted limits still apply and residents park on a St. James permit.
What I do on-site
- On-site anywhere in St. James — the CF Polo Park lots at the St. James Street corner, the streets around Bruce Park and Deer Lodge Centre, the crescents of Silver Heights, and the airport parkade on Wellington Avenue. Nothing has to be towed.
- Lost all keys — a brand-new key cut and programmed from scratch at the vehicle, whether it is sitting in a mall lot or in the driveway at home.
- Spare / duplicate keys — worth doing while the one key you still have works; a second key for the same car at the same visit is half price.
- Car lockout — I open the car without damage, including keys shut in the trunk part-way through a Portage Avenue shopping run.
- Key fobs, remotes and transponder (chip) keys — programmed on the spot for most makes, older ones included, 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week.

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It is a standard part of how I operate — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.
Frequently asked questions
- Do you come to St. James?
- Yes. I am fully mobile, so I work at the vehicle wherever it is standing in St. James — in the CF Polo Park lots at the St. James Street corner, on a street near Bruce Park or Deer Lodge Centre, on one of the Silver Heights crescents, or at the airport parkade on Wellington Avenue. Nothing has to be towed to a shop, and since St. James is inside Winnipeg there is no call-out fee and no travel charge on top of the price.
- When can you reach St. James?
- I work in St. James 7 days a week, from 8 AM to 9 PM, holidays included. I do every job myself, so the honest answer depends on where I am when you call and on how Portage Avenue and Ness Avenue are moving. Call or text +1 (204) 406-1801 with your nearest cross streets and the year and model of the car, and I'll tell you honestly when I can be there before you rearrange your day. Once you know the price, we agree a day and time that suit you, and I turn up then.
