Mobile auto locksmith in Elmwood

From a driveway in Glenelm to the curb on Nairn Avenue, I open locked cars and cut and program spare or replacement keys and fobs right where the car is parked, and you hear the price before any work starts.

Elmwood sits on the east side of the Red River. The river is its western edge and Panet Road its eastern one; Thomas and Tyne Avenues and the Canadian Pacific main line close it off to the south, and in the north it stops at the lane between Harbison and Larsen Avenues, where East Kildonan begins. Inside those lines sit Glenelm, between Henderson Highway and the river, Chalmers, Talbot-Grey, Tyne-Tees and East Elmwood.

Three Red River crossings land here. The Disraeli Freeway comes over on the Disraeli Bridges and turns into Henderson Highway at Talbot Avenue. Hespeler Avenue arrives from the North End over the Redwood Bridge and passes Elmwood Cemetery, 38 acres beside the river at 88 Hespeler. The Louise Bridge comes down at Nairn Avenue and Stadacona Street; the City has foundation repairs planned for the winter of 2026–27 and a full closure for deck and truss work as early as 2029.

Nairn Avenue carries the east–west Route 37 through Elmwood. The City counts about 25,000 vehicles a day on it, Transit buses and trucks included, on a street lined with homes and businesses, and after crossing the CP main line it carries on toward Transcona as Regent Avenue West. Watt Street begins at DeSalaberry Avenue and runs up to meet it.

The name comes from Elmwood Cemetery, and the area was annexed to Winnipeg in 1906.

Most of what stands today is single-family houses, with low-rise apartment blocks, townhouses and two high-rise complexes among them. So a car in Elmwood is usually in a driveway, at the curb of a residential street, in the parking of an apartment block or townhouse row, or at the curb on Nairn itself. Elmwood High School is at 505 Chalmers Avenue.

What I do on-site

  • On-site anywhere in Elmwood — a Glenelm driveway between Henderson Highway and the river, the curb on Nairn Avenue between Stadacona and Watt, the streets off Chalmers Avenue by Elmwood High School, a townhouse lot, or down in Tyne-Tees by Thomas Avenue. Nothing gets towed.
  • Lost keys, spares, lockouts, fobs and chip keys — a spare cut while the one key still works, or a new key made when there is none left; all cut and programmed at the car for most makes and models, older cars included.
  • Up-front price, no call-out fee — car lockout from $150, a spare, chip key or fob from $160, a smart key from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. You pay once the key works.
  • Half price on a second key — for the same car cut at the same visit, with a 1-year warranty on the work.
  • Open 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days including holidays — call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to Elmwood?
Yes. Gaucho Keys is fully mobile, so the job is done where the car already is — a Glenelm driveway near the river, the curb on Nairn Avenue, a side street off Henderson Highway, or a townhouse lot. Anywhere from the Red River east to Panet Road, and from the CP main line north to the Harbison–Larsen lane, is ordinary ground for me. Nothing needs towing to a shop.
When can you reach Elmwood?
Elmwood is covered every day from 8 AM to 9 PM, holidays included. Call +1 (204) 406-1801, say where the car is — a Glenelm side street, off Chalmers Avenue, the curb on Nairn — and I'll tell you honestly when I can be there, since that depends on traffic and on the jobs already booked. If it does not have to be today, choose a day and time once you know the price, and I turn up then.
What can you do on-site in Elmwood?
Lost car keys replaced, spare and duplicate keys cut, locked cars opened without damage, and key fobs, remotes and transponder (chip) keys programmed, for most makes and models, older cars included. All of it happens at the car — on a Glenelm street by the river, in the parking of a low-rise apartment block or at the curb on Nairn — and when every key is gone, a new one is cut and programmed from scratch right there. I check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID before I begin.
How much does it cost in Elmwood?
Starting prices in Elmwood are $150 to open a locked car, $160 for a spare, chip key or fob, $170 for a smart / push-to-start key and $200 to replace every lost key, taxes included. Elmwood is inside Winnipeg, so there is no travel charge on top, whether the car is on Nairn Avenue or in a Glenelm driveway. Some makes cost more, and you hear that before I start; payment comes once the key works, and every service is on the pricing page.
Do you cover Nairn Avenue and the south end of Henderson Highway?
Yes. Nairn Avenue from the Louise Bridge at Stadacona Street east past Watt Street, and the south end of Henderson Highway, from where it begins at Talbot Avenue up to the Harbison–Larsen lane, are both Elmwood, and so are the side streets off them. On Nairn, which the City counts at about 25,000 vehicles a day, tell me the nearest cross street and which side of the road the car is on, so I can find it and pull in safely nearby.
