Mobile auto locksmith in Point Douglas

From a back lane in North Point Douglas to a yard off Higgins Avenue on the south side of the tracks, I open locked cars and cut and program spare or replacement keys and fobs beside the vehicle, and the price is settled before I begin.

Point Douglas is really two neighbourhoods on a bend of the Red River, split by the Canadian Pacific line. North Point Douglas takes the northern part of the peninsula, from Redwood Avenue down to the tracks just past Sutherland Avenue, with Main Street along its west side and the river wrapping around the rest. South Point Douglas lies below the tracks around Higgins Avenue, between Main Street and the river.

Three river crossings land here. The Disraeli Freeway runs from Main Street over the Red toward Henderson Highway, and the old piers beside it carry the Disraeli Active Transportation Bridge. The Louise Bridge comes south into Point Douglas from Nairn Avenue, and at the northern edge Redwood Avenue crosses on the Harry Lazarenko Bridge.

It is one of the oldest corners of the city, where the first Selkirk Settlers arrived in 1812. Its landmarks today include Joe Zuken Heritage Park on Meade Street, Barber House on Euclid, Fire Hall No. 3 on Maple Street, now a firefighting museum, and the Neeginan Centre at 181 Higgins.

The two halves park differently. North Point Douglas is mostly older houses, and the City's neighbourhood plan asks new infill to take its access from the back lane where one exists, so a car here may well be sitting behind the house rather than out front. South Point Douglas is mostly industrial, and Higgins Avenue through it is a primary truck route; most of its few homes are in low-rise apartment buildings.

Winter adds one wrinkle. Main Street, Higgins Avenue, Sutherland Avenue, Redwood Avenue and the Disraeli Freeway are all designated winter routes, so once the City calls its ban there is no parking on them between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

What I do on-site

  • On-site anywhere in Point Douglas — a back lane in North Point Douglas, the curb on Sutherland or Euclid, the streets by Michaëlle Jean Park at the foot of Selkirk Avenue, Joe Zuken Heritage Park on Meade Street, or a yard or loading area off Higgins in South Point Douglas. Nothing gets towed.
  • Keys made and cars opened at the vehicle — lockouts, spare and duplicate keys, all keys lost, fobs, remotes and chip keys, for most makes and models, older cars included.
  • Known price, no call-out fee — car lockout from $150, a spare, chip key or fob from $160, a smart key from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. Point Douglas is inside Winnipeg, so no trip fee is added, and payment comes after the key works.
  • A second key for half price — for the same car at the same visit, backed by a 1-year warranty on the work.
  • Open 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days including holidays — call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801, and say whether the car is north or south of the tracks.

How I keep it legitimate

You always get the price up front and pay only once the key works. See my full pricing.

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It is a standard part of how I operate — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to Point Douglas?
Yes, both halves of it. North of the CP tracks I come to the houses, curbs and back lanes between Redwood Avenue and Sutherland, and to the streets around Michaëlle Jean Park and Joe Zuken Heritage Park; south of the tracks I come to the yards, workplaces and apartment buildings around Higgins Avenue and the Neeginan Centre. Everything is done beside the car, nothing is towed, and because Point Douglas is inside Winnipeg there is no trip fee.
Can you work on a car parked in a back lane?
Yes. A lane behind the house is as good a place to work as the street out front. Tell me the house number, which lane and which side the car faces, open the garage or gate if the car is inside, and I open it or cut and program the key right there.
What can you do on-site in Point Douglas?
A locked car opened without damage, a spare cut from the key you still have, a brand-new key coded from scratch when none is left, and fobs, remotes and transponder (chip) keys programmed for most makes and models, older cars included. It is the same on Sutherland, off Euclid or in a yard along Higgins, and before I start I check the vehicle registration against a matching photo ID.
When can you reach Point Douglas?
Seven days a week, 8 AM to 9 PM, holidays too. It depends on traffic on Main Street, Higgins and the Disraeli at that hour and on which side of the tracks the car is, so message or call +1 (204) 406-1801 and I will say plainly when I can be there. When the price suits you, we settle on a time and I show up for it.
How much does it cost in Point Douglas?
Point Douglas pricing starts at $150 to get into a locked car, $160 for a spare, chip key or fob, $170 for a smart / push-to-start key and $200 when there is no key left at all, taxes in. Both halves of the district are inside Winnipeg, so nothing extra goes on for the drive up to Redwood Avenue or down to Higgins. Some makes cost more; the number you are told on the phone is the number on the bill, settled after the key works (price details).
