Mobile auto locksmith in St. Boniface

Near St. Boniface Hospital, on Provencher Boulevard or in a back lane in Norwood Flats, a key locked in the car, a lost key or a spare is sorted where the car is parked, and you hear the price before a tool comes out.

St. Boniface sits on the east bank of the Red River with the Seine looping down its far side, and four streets carry most of what moves through it — Provencher Boulevard, Taché Avenue, Marion Street and Archibald Street. Cross the Provencher Bridge or the Esplanade Riel footbridge and you are in the French quarter: the Centre culturel franco-manitobain at 340 Provencher, the library at the corner of Provencher and Taché, and St. Boniface Cathedral at 190 avenue de la Cathédrale with Université de Saint-Boniface next door at 200.

Taché runs north along the river past St. Boniface Hospital and the old Grey Nuns convent at 494 Taché, the oldest building in the city, up to Whittier Park and Fort Gibraltar at the top end. South of there Marion and Goulet run as a one-way pair through the Norwood Grove shops, and behind them Norwood and Norwood Flats are older houses, back lanes and small walk-up blocks held between the two rivers.

Parking here comes in a few different shapes, and I work in all of them. St. Boniface Hospital at 409 Taché has its parkade, the Taché visitor lot and a south lot, plus paid on-street blocks around it that run four hours at a stretch — and shutting a key in the car while someone is upstairs is an easy thing to do.

Along Provencher it is street stalls and the Centre culturel's own free lot at 340 Provencher, with the university lot and the streets around the cathedral on avenue de la Cathédrale a block away, while Whittier Park and everything near it fills up when Festival du Voyageur is on. South of Marion, around the Safeway at Marion and Braemar and through the back lanes of Norwood Flats, it is driveways and lane parking, where a second car can sit for weeks before anyone notices the spare key is gone.

What I do on-site

  • I come to where the car already is — the parkade and the paid blocks at St. Boniface Hospital on Taché Avenue, the stalls and the Centre culturel lot along Provencher Boulevard, the university and cathedral block on avenue de la Cathédrale, Whittier Park, Happyland at Marion and Archibald, and the driveways and back lanes of Norwood Flats. Nothing gets towed anywhere.
  • All keys lost — a new key cut and coded to your vehicle from scratch, from $200, even when there is nothing left to copy. Bring the vehicle registration and a matching photo ID and I can start at the car.
  • Spare and duplicate keys — worth doing while the key you have still works, from $160. A second key for the same car at the same visit is half price.
  • Car lockout — opened without damage, from $150, whether you are in a hospital lot on Taché, outside the Safeway at Marion and Braemar, or in a lane off Goulet Street.
  • Fobs, remotes, chip keys and smart keys — programmed on the spot for most makes, older ones included: from $160 for a fob, remote or transponder (chip) key, from $170 for a smart / push-to-start key, taxes included.

Google review

“I lost one of my car keys and only had one left, so I was really stressed. Andrew handled everything perfectly - he cut and programmed a new key for my Honda Civic in just about 10-15 minutes.”

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It is a standard part of how I operate — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.

All of it is done at the car: lost keys, spare and duplicate keys, lockouts, key fobs and remotes, transponder (chip) keys and smart / push-to-start keys, for most makes and models, older cars included. It makes no difference whether the vehicle is in the hospital parkade on Taché, at a street stall near the Centre culturel on Provencher, in the Safeway lot at Marion and Braemar or in a back lane off Goulet Street. Before I start I check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID, and if you want a second key for the same car at that visit, it is half price.
How much does it cost in St. Boniface?
A lockout starts from $150, whether it is the hospital parkade on Taché, a Provencher stall or a back lane in Norwood Flats, with a spare, chip key or fob from $160, a smart / push-to-start key from $170 and all keys lost from $200, taxes included. St. Boniface is inside Winnipeg, so there is no trip charge and no call-out fee; some makes cost more, and the price list covers the rest.
