Mobile auto locksmith in Wolseley
Parked at the curb on Wolseley Avenue, outside the shops on Westminster or in the lot behind an apartment block near Maryland Street, a car with no working key is handled where it stands: I open locked cars and cut and program spare or replacement keys and fobs on the spot, with the price agreed before any work begins.
Wolseley is the part of Winnipeg’s West End that lies between Portage Avenue on the north and the Assiniboine River on the south. Omand’s Creek marks its western edge and Maryland Street its eastern one, and at that corner the Maryland Bridge carries traffic over the river onto Academy Road.
Most of the houses went up between 1905 and 1930, with three-storey brick apartment blocks among them on Wolseley Avenue, such as the Wolseley Apartments at 812 and the Winchester Apartments at 760 and 764.
With housing that old, the car may be at the curb, in a garage off a back lane or in a shared lot behind a block — all normal ground for me. A lost key can just as easily happen away from home: outside the organic grocer, the bakery or the bookstore on Westminster Avenue, at Westminster United Church on the corner of Maryland Street and Westminster, at the school run to Laura Secord School (960 Wolseley Avenue) or Little Bluestem School, the former Wolseley School on Clifton Street, at Vimy Ridge Memorial Park on Portage Avenue at Home Street, or outside the Robert A. Steen Community Centre at 980 Palmerston Avenue.
What I do on-site
- Anywhere in Wolseley, on-site — the curb on Wolseley, Palmerston or Westminster Avenue, the lot behind an apartment block, a garage behind a house near Omand’s Creek, or the curb by Vimy Ridge Memorial Park. The car stays where it is; no tow truck.
- Replacement keys, spares, fobs, chip keys and lockouts — keys cut and programmed beside the vehicle for most makes and models, older cars included, and a locked door opened without damage.
- Price first, then the work — lockout from $150, a spare, chip key or fob from $160, a smart key from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. No call-out fee, and Wolseley is inside Winnipeg, so no travel charge either. You pay once the key works.
- Second key at half price — same car, cut at the same visit, backed by the 1-year warranty on the work. Useful in a household where two drivers share one car and one key.
- 8 AM to 9 PM every day, holidays included — call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801; after hours, send a message and I reply from 8 AM.

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It is a standard part of how I operate — to confirm the vehicle is yours and keep everything above board.
Frequently asked questions
- Do you come to Wolseley?
- Yes. Gaucho Keys works entirely on-site, so the car does not have to move: the curb on Wolseley Avenue or Palmerston, a spot outside the shops on Westminster, a garage behind a house near Omand’s Creek, or the lot behind an apartment block near Maryland Street. Everything between Portage Avenue and the Assiniboine, from Omand’s Creek east to Maryland, is inside my usual area, and there is never a tow to a shop.
- When can you reach Wolseley?
- I work in Wolseley every day from 8 AM to 9 PM, holidays included. How soon depends on what is already booked and on the traffic, so call or message +1 (204) 406-1801 and you get a straight answer instead of a guess. Once you have the price, we settle on a day and time that works for you, and I show up at the car then.
- Can you help if the car is behind an apartment block or in a back lane?
- Yes. Wolseley has apartment blocks among its houses and plenty of renters, so the car may be in a shared lot, in a garage off the lane or at the curb rather than in a private driveway. That is fine: I only need room to open a door and reach the ignition or push-button. Renters are treated the same as owners; what I check is the vehicle registration and a matching photo ID.
- What can you do on-site in Wolseley?
- Lost keys replaced, spares cut, fobs and transponder (chip) keys programmed, and locked cars opened without damage — for most makes and models, older cars included. It all happens at the vehicle, outside Westminster United Church, near Laura Secord School on Wolseley Avenue or Little Bluestem School on Clifton Street, or on your own street. If no key is left at all, a new one is cut and programmed from nothing on the spot, once the registration and ID have been checked.
- How much does it cost in Wolseley?
- From $150 for a lockout, from $160 for a spare, chip key or fob, from $170 for a smart / push-to-start key and from $200 when every key is lost — taxes included, whether the car is on Westminster Avenue or in a lane off Palmerston. Wolseley is inside Winnipeg, so there is no travel charge on top and no call-out fee; some makes cost more, and you pay only when the key works (see all prices).
