Mobile auto locksmith in Osborne Village

On River Avenue, behind an apartment block or in the garage under one, a car with a lost key or a locked door is handled where it stands, and the price is agreed before anything is touched.

Osborne Village sits on the south bank of the Assiniboine, across the river from downtown. The river wraps around it on the north and west; Harkness Station on the transitway marks the east side and the Osborne Underpass the south. It is the most densely populated neighbourhood in Winnipeg, and Osborne Street is its spine and a major shopping street.

The Osborne Street Bridge is still the main way in from downtown, and north of the river Osborne Street carries on past the Manitoba Legislative Building.

At 445 River Avenue, a building put up as a service station now houses the Gas Station Theatre and the Osborne Village Community Centre.

Parking is the practical side of working here. Winnipeg’s parking review says time limits generally go on streets close to destination streets such as Osborne Street, and around multi-unit residential buildings; a resident permit exempts one registered plate from them, and a household can hold up to three. So a Village car may be on a timed block, in a shared lot behind a building or in a garage under it — tell me which when you message, and I plan the visit around it.

What I do on-site

  • On-site anywhere in the Village — a side street like Bole Street, a lot off Osborne Street, outside the Gas Station Arts Centre, or near the Osborne and Harkness transitway stations. Nothing gets towed.
  • Replacement keys, spares, fobs and chip keys — cut and programmed beside the car for most makes and models, older cars included, and a locked door opened without damage, even in a tight curb spot.
  • Price agreed first — car lockout from $150, a spare, chip key or fob from $160, a smart key from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. Osborne Village is inside Winnipeg, so there is no charge for the drive, and no call-out fee. Payment only once the key works.
  • Half price on the second key — same car, same visit, backed by a 1-year warranty on the work; handy when two people in one apartment share a car.
  • 8 AM to 9 PM, seven days, holidays included — call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801; after 9 PM send a message and I reply from 8 AM.

Before any work, I always check your vehicle registration and a matching photo ID. It's a standard part of how I operate — it confirms the car is yours and keeps everything above board, which matters in a busy shared-parking neighbourhood like the Village.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to Osborne Village?
Yes — the whole Village, from the Assiniboine on the north and west to Harkness Station on the east and the Osborne Underpass on the south. That takes in River Avenue and Roslyn Road, a lot behind a block off Osborne Street and the buildings along Nassau Street. I am fully mobile, so the car is worked on where it stands and nobody has to tow it over the bridge.
My car is on a street with a posted time limit. Is that a problem?
Normally not. The City puts time limits on streets near destination streets such as Osborne and around multi-unit residential buildings, so a car in the Village may well be on a timed block. Tell me the street and what the sign says when you message, and the visit is booked with that in mind. A resident permit only exempts the one plate it is registered to, in the zone where the holder lives.
Can you work on a car in my apartment building’s garage or back lot?
Yes, as long as I can reach it. In a neighbourhood of apartment blocks the car may be in a shared lot or a garage under the building rather than at the curb, so meet me at the entrance or tell me the way in, and make sure the driver’s door can open fully. Before starting I check the vehicle registration and a photo ID with the same name, then the key is made right there in the stall.
When can you come to Osborne Village?
The Village is on my list every day, holidays included, between 8 AM and 9 PM. What decides how soon is the rest of that day’s work and how busy Osborne Street and the bridges are, so message or call +1 (204) 406-1801 and I tell you straight. A spare you want before a show at the Gas Station Theatre, or on a morning when the building’s garage is quiet, can simply be booked for that day and time once the price is agreed.
How much does it cost in Osborne Village?
Opening a locked car in Osborne Village costs from $150, and every price here already includes taxes: $160 and up for a spare, chip key or fob, $170 and up for a smart / push-to-start key, $200 and up when no key is left. You are not charged for the trip, because the Village is inside Winnipeg, and there is no call-out fee; a few makes cost more, which you hear before any work starts, and payment comes only once the key works (see all prices).
