Mobile auto locksmith in Birds Hill

The car might be at the municipal office lot on Birds Hill Road, outside the school on Raleigh Street, in Silverfox Estates, or up at the provincial park during the Folk Festival in July. Lost key, spare, lockout or fob, it is handled where the car sits, the trip out of Winnipeg counted into one price I give you first.

Birds Hill is an unincorporated community about 4 km north-east of the Winnipeg city limit by road, in the RM of East St. Paul, east of the Red River; part of it stands on an esker, a ridge of glacial sand that is some of the highest ground in south-central Manitoba. Birds Hill Road (PR 202) starts at Highway 59 by the community and runs about 15 km north-east along the Floodway's west side to Henderson Highway near Lockport.

The name comes from James Curtis Bird, a fur trader who owned a large property here. Swistun Family Heritage Park on Birds Hill Road, formerly Silver Springs Park, covers about 73 hectares with trails, picnic tables, a Trans Canada Trail staging area and, in winter, a toboggan slope on the south side.

East St. Paul keeps its municipal office, council chambers and fire department in Birds Hill, with Centennial Plaza at 3021 Birds Hill Road. Birds Hill School, kindergarten to grade 5, is at Hoddinott Road and Raleigh Street, and Silverfox Estates is a gated, adult-only community of 163 homes.

The provincial park that shares the name is farther out, up Highway 59: the highway crosses the Floodway before the park interchange, and the park itself lies in the RMs of Springfield and St. Clements. Its low rounded hills, oak and aspen hold a lake and beach, a campground along South Drive, 30 km of walking and ski trails and a 7.2 km paved bike trail. Every July it hosts the Winnipeg Folk Festival; winter brings cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Birds Hill and the park are both outside Winnipeg, and the park is the farther of the two: the travel fee is $2 per km from the Winnipeg city limit to where the car is, included in the all-in price I tell you before I set off. The number you agree to is the one you pay.

What I do on-site

  • On-site around Birds Hill — the lot at 3021 Birds Hill Road, the school at Hoddinott Road and Raleigh Street, a driveway in Silverfox Estates, Swistun Family Heritage Park, or the beach and campground in the provincial park. No towing to a shop.
  • Spare keys, lost keys, lockouts, fobs and chip keys — cut and programmed at the car, which matters at the park, where the spare key at home is a long way off. Most makes and models, older cars included.
  • Up-front price, no call-out fee — car lockout from $150, spare, chip key or fob from $160, smart / push-to-start from $170, all keys lost from $200, taxes included. Birds Hill is outside Winnipeg, so a travel fee is built in, and the total is what you hear before I leave. You pay only once the key works or the car is open.
  • Half price on a second key — same car, same visit, 1-year warranty on the work. Better done in your own driveway than after the only key has gone missing on a trail or at the beach.
  • Open 8 AM to 9 PM, 7 days — holidays included, so a July Saturday at the park and a weekday at the school on Raleigh Street both fit. Call, text or WhatsApp +1 (204) 406-1801.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to the Birds Hill area?
Yes. I come to the car in the community itself — along Birds Hill Road, around Hoddinott Road and Raleigh Street, in Silverfox Estates — and out to Birds Hill Provincial Park, and the work is done on the spot with no tow. Both are outside Winnipeg, so a travel fee is already in the all-in price you hear first. Tell me the year, make and model, and once the price suits you we set a day and time.
When can you reach Birds Hill?
Between 8 AM and 9 PM on any day, holidays included. How soon I can come depends on where I already am and on the day's bookings, so you get an honest answer instead of a promised time: call or message +1 (204) 406-1801, say whether the car is in the community or in the park, and I will tell you. Overnight messages get an answer from 8 AM.
Is Birds Hill the same as Birds Hill Provincial Park?
No, and the difference shows up in the price. Birds Hill is the community in the RM of East St. Paul, a few kilometres north-east of the Winnipeg city limit; the provincial park is farther out along Highway 59, past the Floodway, in the RMs of Springfield and St. Clements. If the car is in the park, tell me which part — the beach, the campground on South Drive or a trailhead — so the travel part of the price is right from the start.
What can you do on-site in Birds Hill?
Spare keys, lost keys, lockouts, fob and remote programming and chip keys, all at the car, for most makes and models, older cars included. That is the same whether the car sits in a driveway on the hill or in a park lot on a summer weekend.
How much does it cost in Birds Hill?
From $150 for a car lockout, $160 for a spare, chip key or fob, $170 for a smart / push-to-start key and $200 when all keys are lost, taxes included. Birds Hill and the park are outside Winnipeg, so the travel fee is $2 per km from the Winnipeg city limit to where the car is; it is part of the all-in price I give you before I set out, and you pay only once the key works or the car is open. Some makes cost more, and the pricing page lists every service.
