Cooks Creek is an unincorporated community in the RM of Springfield, about 25 km north-east of the Winnipeg city limit by road, with Oakbank about 10 km to the south-west and Hazelridge a little to the south-east. Its spine is Provincial Road 212. From Garven Road near Hazelridge it runs north through Cooks Creek, crosses PTH 44 near Highland Glen and PTH 59 at East Selkirk, and ends at PR 204 between Selkirk and East Selkirk, following the general course of the creek itself for most of the way.
Garven Road, PR 213, is the east–west road through the area. It links Oakbank and Hazelridge and runs from PTH 59 near Birds Hill at its western end to PTH 12 near Anola at its eastern end.
Travel Manitoba calls Cooks Creek the oldest Galician settlement in western Canada. Its best-known landmark is the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception at 68003 PR 212, on the corner of Zora Road — a brick church with nine domes and cupolas, with the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes beside it. A little further north, at 68148 PR 212, the Cooks Creek Heritage Museum opens from May to August, Wednesday to Sunday.
The Cooks Creek Medieval Festival is usually held every second year on the church grounds — most recently 24 to 26 July 2026 — with jousting, live role-play, music and a feast; the archdiocesan pilgrimage comes in mid-August, and the museum’s Heritage Day falls at the end of August.
